Ryedale Cash Registers was formed over 30 years ago by husband and wife team Les and Janet Wood in Norton near Malton North Yorkshire. Having spent eleven years in the cash register business (initially working for Gross Cash Registers who were taken over by Chubb), Les decided that it was time to set up his own company in order to look after small independent businesses that he felt were not being served well by the large cash register companies. Starting to work from their home and garage, Les and Janet aimed to provide an honest, reliable, quality repair service for small businesses. With Les’ extensive knowledge in the repair and sale of cash registers and weighing equipment, the customer base grew and it was necessary to move to new premises in Norton and employ a second trained engineer. Embracing the new technology, Ryedale Cash Registers needed bigger premises to showcase the ever growing products being brought to the market, and in 1996 they moved to their current premises also on Church Street, Norton. In 2001 Les and Janet’s son Richard joined the team (and liking it so much has stayed)! As the office workload increased, their daughter Suzanne came to help out for a short period and like her brother decided she enjoyed the challenges that come with running a family business and also decided to stay. Over the years they have increased their capable and enthusiastic team to enable them to better serve their customers, especially with online and onsite support.
As a family operated business we have always endeavoured to improve and maintain an efficient business providing customers with the latest technology, reliable service, quality products and honest advice based on many years of experience in the point of sale industry. We realise that whilst the price of a product is extremely important, other factors such as support and advice, build quality of hardware, up to date software and availability of spare parts all play a part in providing an efficient, reliable, quality service to enable our customers to maintain and improve their business.
